Wilsons fame was surpassed by the U.S. in 2014 as she landed a part in Showtimes The Affair. In this show, Wilson played Alison Lockhart who is a young woman who is troubled and comes who comes from a rough background. Lockhart has a crush on the love of her life, Noah Solloway. Wilson was awarded the Golden Globe award for Best Actress in a Television Series Drama, alongside Mauratierney as well as Joshua Jackson. Wilson said in British Vogue, "I loved playing a character with both sides of the story." Noah imagines Alison's confident and reckless sexy side. The way she sees herself in a completely different light. From the inside she's not sure and would rather blend in with the background. The actress said that she believes America has become so moralistic and judgmental that the events in this show appear to be shocking. Wilson quit the show in 2018 to many fans' dismay, though she was vague about the specifics. In an interview with CBS This Morning in August, with CBS This Morning, Wilson said she was adamant to leave the show but was not permitted to discuss what the reason was. A Little Stranger More recently Wilson has been pursuing film roles. Wilson starred in the horror film I Am the Pretty Thing Living in the Home in 2016. She also portrayed the cryptic PT Stella as the Sci-Fi romance How to Talk to Girls at Parties. Adding more of the horror genre onto her film credits she is set to be a part of the British film version of The Little Stranger a supernatural thriller that is based upon a novel by author Sarah Waters. Wilson will also be in charge of the production.
